Tories to stop Noble's Youth Project
A Basildon youth project to which Mark Noble donated to is set to be scrapped after a change of council leadership.

The plans, under the former leadership of Labour’s Gavin Callaghan, will be pulled under the new administration of Basildon’s Tories, despite planning permission being agreed.

The £4.1million investment from Basildon Council into the project will be spent elsewhere.

Noble threw his weight behind the plan and pledged £35,000 in a bid to help the borough’s most vulnerable.

The Hammer, who has already pledged his support to Basildon Council’s plan to establish a Youth Zone in the borough, expressed how impressed he was to see the Basildon community and that it was important to do all we could to lopk out for one another at the present time.

And he added: “I have spoken before about how excited I am by what I see happening in Basildon and the potential for the future. I felt it was important to send a token of support at this time of need.”

The news that the Youth Project in Basildon could now be scrapped will come as a personal disappointment to the West Ham captain.

I think skateboard parks are good for the youth. Not many free activities for kids.

______

They're not extreme right wingers at all. They're just slavishly devoted to political party that is far more liberal nowadays than it is conservative.

Re: Tories to stop Noble's Youth Project
If the state played no role in helping to raise children, there would be no state schools, no local authority libraries, no local authorities swimming pools, no local authority leisure activities etc.

I'm right of centre, but some of the extreme right wingers on this forum really do post utter tripe at times.

Re: Tories to stop Noble's Youth Project
I remember the first skateboard park near me when I grew up. Went down there the first couple weeks building up the nerve to try and get round a few banks on my flexiboard, without making myself look like a complete it.

About 3 weeks after its opening it had 2 foot of water in it with 100 cider cans floating.

Panic over

“ Kids today, eh?
If only they has benefited from ten years of conservative rule. That would have turned hem all into fine citizens”

From the horse’s mouth, the difference between socialists and the rest of us. I don’t think it is the state’s responsibility to raise my kids.

Those who think youth clubs are safe environments for children to go, develop and express themselves obviously never went to one as a kid.

Russ,

Got to agree with Surf here: "The skate park is a safe environment for my child to go, develop and express themselves" said no parent ever.

They are like a Future markets convention for local dealers.

Re: Tories to stop Noble's Youth Project
I think the old council was pretty disgusting. Why didn’t they build 10 of these? Fuck it, why not 20. They obviously hated kids.

What a stupid thing to say.

This is exactly the type of youth project that would reduce or stop the things you describe.

If I had just voted Conservative in newly-Tory Basildon I would be thrilled that their first action was to refuse to piss away 4.1 mio on a new facility for youths to deal drugs, piss in and intimidate passers-by.

Exactly what I was thinking!

A £35k contribution from Noble towards a £4.1 million scheme hardly classifies it as "Noble's Youth Project".

Blimey, you should consider a career in the media son!

The headline vs the actual story, that's a big gap between bid and ask.

Its not Noble's project, its just something he was making a very generous donation to.

Re: Tories to stop Noble's Youth Project
I’ll be honest, I don’t trust Noble’s judgement on what is and isn’t a good project to back.
